Early Career Award
(Previously called the Young Career Award)
Early Career Award (Previously called the Young Career Award) is a part of ISSID conferences. ISSID, with the financial support of Elsevier, is soliciting nominations for the Annual Early Career Researcher Award. The award carries a $2,000 (United States Dollars) honorarium, and the winner will be invited to present a paper at the 2025 ISSID conference in Vienna.
To be eligible for the award:
1. As COVID affected the ability of many PhD students to start their studies or gather data, we have widened access for the ISSID Early Career Researcher Award to those who graduated in 2018 or later.
2. The nominee had a first-authored (or sole-authored) article published in Personality and Individual Differences during 2024.
3. The nominee is a current member of ISSID, or will join before receiving the award.
Nominations should consist of:
1. A pdf copy of the candidate's single best published paper. This paper does not necessarily have to be from Personality and Individual Differences. Papers that are published online on Science Direct or similar are acceptable, but pre-prints or articles that are "in press" are not.
2. If the paper has multiple authors, include a clear and detailed account of the precise contribution of each author
3. A full professional curriculum vitae, listing education, publications, grants, awards, current and past teaching and administrative responsibilities etc.
Please submit nominations (including self-nominations) to Colin Cooper (issid@colincooper.org)
Deadline for submissions is April 20, 2025.

Dr. Sybil Eysenck Award
for Young Researchers
The Blazej Szymura ISSID Conference Travel Award
This Award is in memory of Professor Blazej Szymura, whose scientific career in personality and individual differences was cut-short by his tragic death at the age of 40. Blazej actively promoted the aims of the International Society for the Study of Individual Differences (ISSID), and was involved in facilitating the international collaboration of psychologists. ISSID offer this award, up to a maximum $1000, to help fund travel/accommodation expenses of an early career researcher so they can attend and present at the next ISSID conference – the conference fee will be waived.
Eligibility for Award:
1. You must be an early career researcher, under 40 years of age (or within 5 years of completion of PhD), in the area of personality and individual differences;
2. If still a student, you will be undertaking postgraduate (Masters or PhD, or equivalent) level research;
3. You will clearly demonstrate that you would not be able to attend ISSID without this financial award. (Preference will be given to applicants from outside USA/UK; however, exceptional cases will be considered from these countries.)
4. It is desirable that you present material at ISSID encouraging international collaboration between psychologists (e.g., cross-cultural studies or studies that include collaborative work by psychologists from different countries).
Nomination Procedure:
Applications consist of: (1) cover letter to the Chair of the Selection Panel; (2) a two page statement, including: (a) why you think you are eligible for this Award and (b) the topic of your talk; and (3) a copy of your CV, and (4) a letter of support from your Head of Department or School (or Professor in your Department/School). These materials may be sent to the President of ISSID.
Deadline for Applications
The deadline for the next award will be announced in early 2025.
